Mariam Sukhanova-Foukara was born in 1954 in Yerevan, Soviet Armenia. She studied painting at the Surikov Academy of Fine Arts in Moscow from 1973 to 1979, specializing in monumental art (mosaics, bas-relief, stained glass). In 1979, she settled in Cyprus, where she has since lived and worked.
Mariam Sukhanova-Foukara has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has held over 10 solo exhibitions. She has also exhibited internationally, including in Moscow (1988) and Athens (1987), among others. Alongside her husband, Christos Foukaras, she has also been involved in the field of mural painting for public spaces, such as decorating halls in large hotels.
