George Kotsonis, born in March 1940 in Palechori, Cyprus, pursued his artistic education at prestigious institutions like Saint Martin's School of Art in London, the Peking Academy of Fine Art, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Currently residing in Paphos, Kotsonis is revered as a leading figure in Cypriot art, notably acclaimed for his exploration of nudes and erotica in an era where such themes are not widely embraced.
His paintings, focusing on the timeless pursuit of beauty, reflect a fundamental artistic conviction. Kotsonis's solo exhibitions have graced galleries across Cyprus, Greece, and internationally. Noteworthy among his numerous solo and group exhibitions are showcases at esteemed venues such as the Commonwealth Institute in London (1975), the Panhellenic Exhibition in Athens (1975), and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade (1977).
