Fotini Michailidi

Fotini Michailidi, born in Paphos in 1993, is a contemporary visual artist whose work delves into themes of chaos, anarchy, and the distortion of traditional notions of beauty. She earned her BA in Fine Arts from Middlesex University in London and later pursued postgraduate studies, obtaining an MA in Digital Art and Design from the University of Nicosia.
Michailidi's art challenges conventional perceptions by disrupting the viewer's emotional landscape through the manipulation of beauty and dystopian imagery. Her practice prompts critical reflection on societal constructs, particularly regarding identity and femininity, while advocating for authenticity and individualism. One of her recent projects explores the concept of beauty in art, investigating the interplay between form and deformation. Through this exploration, she questions the subjective nature of beauty, highlighting its dependence on cultural identity, personal aesthetic preferences, and unconscious biases.
Michailidi has participated in numerous group exhibitions, symposiums, and festivals both domestically and internationally. She is a registered member of E.KA.TE (Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts) and has served on the board of the Myopathy Disorders Association Cyprus (MDA) since 2023.
